Daily Makeup Must Haves

I am the proud owner of quite an extensive makeup collection. Makeup has been with me since my early teens and it has proven therapeutic for me over the decades. From the “full beat” to the “barely there” I have all the tricks in my arsenal… I hope so at least. So onto a closer look in to my daily makeup.

“To me, beauty and makeup and colour is like the finishing touch on everything”

Marc Jacobs

With my 33 years I have watched channels like Pixiwoo, Lisa Eldridge & Nikki Tutorials start on the tube… what a ride. I learned from all of them and I still watch all of them on a regular basis. Granted, my spare time for watching YouTube is mainly when I’m taking a shower, but it allows for video or two depending on the ensuing pampering routine.

Considering, that todays landscape of Makeup is expanding faster than anyone can even measure it anymore. I have tried a great many brands, fallen in love with product and fallen out of love with others.

I plan on writing on all the things I love and kill for, but I thought I’d keep it as short as I possibly can and write (for starters) about what I use daily.

BASE

Armani Beauty Luminous Silk has been with me for at least 3 years. One of my most favourite foundations I have ever tried. I happily suggest other to give it a try and I honestly believe it to be the fastest way to a natural looking base that just perfects the face. I honestly believe, it is one of the easiest foundations on the market. Most days I use it with my fingers because I cannot be bothered to pick up a brush or beauty blender. I take 1 ½ pumps into my fingers and apply to my face (after skincare and SPF).

My shades are 4.5 for summer and 2 for winter. In between seasons I am known to be mixing them both to get my shade.

PROS

It blends like a dream and comes in so many shades and undertones that I’m willing to say, there is one for most. The coverage is light, but I suffer from discoloration and occasional acne and it works fine for a natural evened out skin day. The finish is dewy and extremely natural because it doesn’t look like you are wearing anything at all.

CONS

It’s expensive, quite expensive to be honest. 55 Euros for 30 mil is steep and I was hesitant to buy it at first. I mentioned before, the coverage is light at best which might be an issue for some. Armani Beauty sells in China and therefor isn’t cruelty free and as far as I know, it’s also not vegan. So, if this is something you look for in a product then this is not the right one for you. I have heard rumblings, that the Catrice Nude Illusion Foundation is supposed to be a price, performance and cruelty-free dupe for it, I have however, not tried this one yet to confirm. I can honestly say, those are the only things I can think of in terms of cons about this product.

EYES & BROWS

Dior Backstage Eyeshadow Palette in Cool 002. I do love a nicely curated eyeshadow palette. Many are far too big; with colours I don’t need in my routine. Over the last 10 years I spend more money on palettes that ended up not being used at all, I’m ashamed to say. So, this one ticks literally all my boxes. Neutral colours for every day, a primer is included (which I rarely use but it’s nice to have anyways). A dark brown shade that can fill in my brows as well and a day-to-night transformation is possible too.

PROS

The colours speak to me, I’m a neutral learning to cool shadows kinda gal. My eyes are brown with green specks and these tones work magic on brown and/or green eyes. The blend is amazing and so is the colour payoff. It’s a compact throw-into-bag kinda size and can do it all no matter your needs. I use it for my daily makeup as for super sexy evening out looks.

CONS

The price! For 10 grams of product you pay 50 Euros which is a lot. Dior is neither cruelty-free nor vegan so if that is a concern for you, this is not the right palette for you. Also, the packaging is rather flimsy in my opinion, for the premium price I wouldn’t mind a nicer packaging. Other than that, I can’t think of anything else.

LIPS

Dior Addict Lip Maximizer in the colour 013 beige. I love love love this product. I “suffer” from the smallest lips imaginable; they are tiny. This is the only lip product I have found to not irritate my lip and still give a gorgeous plumping effect. The colour is right up my ally too as it is a nude-beige that fits just about every look imaginable.

PROS

No stickiness whatsoever, very smooth and the cooling effect from the mint is amazing. I can only speak for this colour but in my opinion it an incredibly universal shade that works for just about every look and skin colour.

CONS

Price… it’s always the price! 6 millilitres for 37 Euros is not exactly a bargain. Live above-mentioned Dior is neither cruelty-free nor vegan. Other than that, I can’t think of anything.

“Makeup is a way for a woman to look and feel like herself, only prettier and more confident”

Bobbi Brown

You might think I only have luxury products in my makeup bag, but that’s not true – I love the Drugstore just as much and at the present, these are just what I use on the daily. This might very well change soon because for example I am using almost daily a drugstore mascara which I didn’t list because I try many mascaras and am not 100% set on just one now.
