The EyeOil that saved my (under)Eyes

If you are thinking „What is she talking about, there is no such thing as an EyeOil“ then you might be at the same point as I only six months ago. You must know, I‘m a very oily skinned gal with enormous surface dehydration. And yes, I still suffer from „bad“ skin (i.e.: cystic acne, spots, hyperpigmentation, scaring — basically the works). My skin is much MUCH better compared to what it was just 4 years ago, after my last cystic acne outbreak but still, it can be a daily struggle.

The Dark Circles from Hell

I digress… back to my eyes or under eyes to be correct. Lucky me was blessed with bad blueish dark circles that refuse to leave – ever. Even with enough sleep under my belt to serve an entire armies worth and enough water in my system to keep me hydrated like Niagara Falls – I still have these unwanted friends.

Early on in life, before there was anything like Tarte Shape Tape, I covered my damn circles with the most heavy duty concealer I had access to, at the time and that was MAC Select CoverUp, it was the concealer that covered even your darkest of sins. Terribly drying – wouldn‘t recommend to anyone and yet, I used it for years. It also was the reason why my under eyes turned dry and crusty over time…

By the age of 22 I had started noticing my under eyes wrinkle or crease and it wasn‘t pretty, let me tell you.

The Quest for Hydration

For years I tried every Eye Cream on the market, from Estée Lauder to Bobbi Brown, from L‘Oreal to Vichy — each with little to no relieve for my under eyes. I sandwiched creams, serums and everything I could lay my hands on… but nothing would work, let alone work in conjunction with concealer. I was miserable. The amounts of money I had spent in the last 15 years, is a sheer nightmare to think back on.

From Dry to Hydration

After a time of despair, I figured I had to switch concealers – opted for one that is hydrating but all I got was semi acceptable coverage. I tried, looked, researched and tried some more and finally settled on one concealer that kept my under eyes hydrated, for an hour or two but would eventually end up creasing badly and have me spend the majority of my day tapping it out. It’s safe to say, that I was a lot of things but happy wasn’t one of them.

The Quest continues

Terribly unhappy with my under eyes situation, I kept looking for something that would help and then, on a very late night shopping spree with Douglas (Austrian‘s version of Sephora basically) offering 25% off the entire store, I came across a brand I can honestly say, I have never heard off before: KORA Organics. The prices were high, not La Mer Lord-Jesus-I-have-to-file-for-bankruptcy kinda high but not L‘Oreal either. I looked it up, found it was an all organic (as the name would have suggested anyways) and well thought through brand and with a click, the item that sparked my fancy most, was put into the cart.

Finding the Holy (under eye) Grail

At first, I questioned my judgment, told myself I had gone “midnight-shopping-crazy” and was sure to return the EyeOil… but then I figured, I could at least give it a fair try.

I have never seen magic being performed but I reckon, it would look like this oil. Maybe the oil has a rabbit hiding in a top hat or it can get out of a tank full of water whilst being tied down with weights – I’m sure the Oil can do it all.

Yes, for 10 millilitres you pay a pretty penny, but I have never every found anything worth the money more as this was. The first morning after I used it the night before, I still had my dark shadows (but nothing could help those) but my fine lines had smoothed considerably and so I reapplied it again before I put on my makeup for the day.

Mildly terrified my Holy Grail was going to fail in the final test I put it on and tapped it into my under eye area every so lightly, waited a minute or two and then, it was time to conceal and my concealer had never looked better, my under eyes never this hydrated and I even allowed myself to set the concealer to prevent creasing (something I couldn’t do ever as it made my under eye area even more dry in appearance) – it looked absolutely amazing.

Six months later

I have been using this beautiful KORA Organics Noni Eye Oil every single day (day and night) and I love it like no other product. And here comes the surprising part – I had thought that 10 millilitres would run out fast. Just like any of the other classic 15 millilitres eye creams and figured it would be costing me a yearly fortune (one I was willing to pay). Six months of daily use and the product is only used up by approximately 15% and that is something, considering I swipe it on in a very generous fashion.

I don’t have an affiliate link, I just link to the Kora Organics Website for you and as far as I know, they sell worldwide. Sephora and Douglas are selling the Brand as well in case you want an alternative in case you fancy giving it a try.

Side Note: I love MAC products, I still use many in my daily makeup rotation and I know, as much controversy MAC has caused over the years and the fact that they may or may not still test on animals is for each one to decide on their own to support or not. But like with every Brand, one finds true gems and items you wouldn’t wish upon your worst enemy. What works for me might not work for you and vis versa. By saying that “I don’t wish this conceal on anyone” doesn’t mean I hate the entire MAC range. I could give you about 3 dozen items I adore by the brand in the blink of an eye.

#NotSponsored – I hope, it goes without saying but let me say it anyways – this Blogpost is NOT sponsored, neither Douglas nor Kora Organics have paid me to write this but my love for this one product is real and it looks like it will be a lifelong bond.
